random thoughts are piling up in my brain

We had a nice weekend. It rained a lot, off and on, so once again I didn't have to water my garden for a few days. That's always nice...saves me money, and saves me from getting lots of mosquito bites. I like to water the garden after dinner when it's cooling down for the day. There's usually a nice breeze and it's shady in the back yard, but oh, those mosquitoes love to bite me.
There are a few random things on my mind so I apologize for the disconnected thoughts.
-Remember the pile? Well, I did call the city again to see if they could remove it and surprisingly enough she said the neighbor had already called. I was very pleased to hear that, then she said the earliest date to pick it up was on the 18th. The 18th? That means the pile will have been there from July 3rd until the 18th! Being angry won't change the date, being irritated won't change the date, glaring at the pile every time I walk by the window won't change the date. I am thankful that the neighbor had already called and I am thankful that it will be picked up. But then, after the pile had been rained on for over a week something crazy happened. On Saturday afternoon a little truck stopped in front of our house, two men got out, flipped the couches and chairs over, sat on them to see if they were comfy, then took the entire pile and put it in their truck and drove away! I'm sure the furniture was still usable, but it had to be soaking wet. Anyway....no more pile! Yippee!
-We've had quite a few cherry tomatoes now, not enough to enjoy on a salad, but still enough to enjoy a juicy one here and there. Well, my lemon boys are starting to ripen! This is the first time I've grown yellow tomatoes and we picked our first two yesterday. I'm sorry to say that there are no pictures of them. We were so excited about it we just sliced them up and ate them with dinner. Oh man they were good. Very meaty, not a lot of juice everywhere, and kind of sweet, very low acid content. YUMMY!..and pretty, too. I'll try to remember to take a picture the next time.
-I wore my new skirt to church yesterday. I was very excited. No one said,"Hey, did you make that?" which in my mind is success! I want to be good at sewing so that people don't notice that I made it. I think I'll make another of the same style but maybe add some length to it next time.

-I've been playing with the different functions of my camera trying to get good at using macro. There was a big spider web on a bush by the back door so I tried it out. At first I couldn't get it to work, then I remembered if I spray mist on the web it would show up better...and it did. Then the spider caught a bug so I took a picture of that too. I know, gross, but cool too...check it out!
-Our second sunflower bloomed today. I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I will later today when the light is better. I did, however, take a picture of it from the back the other day and it turned out pretty cool. It's very symmetrical, which I love, and it's very fuzzy. I guess the backside of a sunflower doesn't get noticed much, so I was glad I looked up.
-When I initially planted our wee little garden, I planted some marigold seeds around the perimeter. Marigolds are pretty and they help keep the bugs away from the plants. Well, now that the garden is growing like crazy and producing all kinds of veggies it's just perfect that the marigolds are blooming. When I bought the seeds the package said mixed colors so I didn't know what to expect. Well, let me just tell you, that I have some very pretty orange and red marigolds.
-You know how socks always seem to go missing after they've entered they dryer? Well, since I use my clothesline most of the time I usually don't have that problem. My problem is a dwindling supply of clothes pins. And here is the reason why.

I think I've cleared out my brain a little bit. Hopefully the next post will be a little more coherent. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Love the Sunflower shot! Glad you got a good one of the spider also.

I also love the rambling blog, as I find myself doing that a lot.

I'm glad I'm not the only rambler out there. Thanks for the tips about spider webs!

And I forgot to say I love the new header!!! I can not believe I forgot that!

Hope that my tips helped, but it seems you did not need my help. Great idea with the water.
