a visit from grandma

My mom came up for the day yesterday to play with us. She found a little sewing machine for the girls. It's so cute. I have my first sewing machine that they can use. It's really old and it's giving me bobbin problems. The new little machine has no bobbin, so I'm trying to figure out how to keep the thread from unraveling. I guess I need to play with both machines to get them working smoothly, then both of my girls can learn to sew. Because of the new sewing machine the girls wanted to make a dress for their doll. We made a little dress for one of the dolls last week and we used my sewing machine. This time they wanted to use their new machine. Well, we ended up using my machine anyway. It turned out cute. I drew a pattern for a wrap-around dress, then cut it out, and the girls helped sew it all together. No pictures of it yet. I always forget to break out the camera while my mom is here. We spend our time talking and drooling over patterns and fabric. Speaking of which, she bought some super cute patterns and some pink fabric with little flowers on it. Oh, so cute. It was for herself...not for me. She finally used her gift card to the fabric store. I can't wait to see how cute her dresses turn out.

Since I don't have any pictures from her visit, I'll share some pictures that I have taken around the yard the past few days.

Have a wonderful Saturday. It's going to be a hot and humid day...so we're off to find a cool place to have some fun!

Thanks Zoe! Believe me, for every one picture that comes out good, there are 7 or 8 that are not. I'm gonna need a bigger hard drive:p

I know what you mean about the hard drive. Mark tells me that my stuff takes up 48GB. Also in my photo classes they always say that for every roll of film that you take you should get 1 good photo. You also need to really cull photos.(this is really hard;)
